Bossier City, LA Club History: The Altrusa Club of Bossier City was sponsored by the Altrusa Club of Shreveport. The club has a membership of 13. Club Meetings: The club has a noon meeting the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Service Projects & Fundraisers: Every year a graduating ASTRA senior from Parkway High School, Bossier City receives a $500 scholarship. “Make A Difference Day” is celebrated by partnering with local elementary schools to encourage their young readers. In 2005, the Altrusa Service Project Coordinator obtained the donation of a computer which was given to a family in need; all children in attendance at the Celebration of Reading event received new books and were entertained by a renowned story teller. The club held their second annual book sale in March 2006 in partnership with the ASTRA Club of Parkway High School.
